Day 1: Tel Aviv- Mediterranean Coast
Upon arrival into Tel Aviv you are met by your local guide and taken to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Caesarea/ Cana/ Nazareth/ Tiberias
Travel via the coast to Caesarea where the Romans held Paul prisoner to visit the Roman and Crusader ruins. In Haifa visit Stella Maris, a Carmelite Monastery containing the Madonna of Mt Carmel. Drive to Cana, the village of Jesus' first miracle of changing water into wine and visit the Wedding Church where couples may renew their wedding vows. Next we visit Nazareth to celebrate Mass in the Basilica of Annunciation, visit Mary's Well and the Church of St. Joseph. End the day at your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Sea of Galilee/ Capernaum/ Sea of Galilee/ Mt. Beatitudes
Today's highlights include a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum to see the synagogue and St Peter's house, a visit to the Mount of the Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount is remembered and where we celebrate Mass at one of the outdoor chapels. Continue to Tabgha to see the splendid mosaic about the miracle of the loaves and fishes, and to the nearby Church of Peter's Primacy where Peter was told “Feed my lambs, feed my sheep." Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Tiberias/ Mt. Tabor/ Petra
Begin the day at Mount Tabor, site of the Transfiguration, where we will celebrate Mass. Drive the Sheikh Hussein Bridge to cross into the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Continue to Mt. Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Then we travel south to Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. End the day at your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Petra/ Amman
Today you will tour the “rose-red” city of Petra beginning at the “Siq”, a winding canyon road. See the Treasury, Petra’s most beautiful monument, carved from the solid rock of the surrounding mountains. Discover soaring temples, royal tombs, burial chambers, water channels and a theatre. Continue to your hotel in Amman for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Amman/ Dead Sea area/ Jerusalem
This morning we will drive to the Jordan River to view Byzantine church ruins where the Byzantine Christians recalled Jesus’ baptism. Nearby is the cave where it is said that John the Baptist stayed. We will then have the opportunity to renew our baptismal promises by the Jordan River. We’ll also stop at Elijah’s Hill, the site from which the great prophet went up into heaven on a fiery chariot. Afterwards, we’ll drive to Allenby Bridge and cross back into the Holy Land ancient Jericho, the oldest known city in the Western World. Here we’ll stop by a sycamore tree and recall the story of Zacchaeus, the tax collector. From there, we will travel to the site of Old Testament Jericho (Tel es-Sultan), Elisha’s Spring and stop at an Orthodox Monastery very near the site of Jesus’ Temptation in the desert.
After lunch, we will drive to Qumran to visit the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, as well as the ruins of the buildings of the Essene community. Following this, we will stop at the Dead Sea for a unique opportunity to float on its mineral-rich water. End the day at our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Bethlehem/ Ein Karem
Drive to Bethlehem to visit the Shepherd's Field and the Church of the Nativity, the traditional birthplace of Jesus where we celebrate Mass. In the afternoon, we drive to the village of Ein Karem, the birthplace of St. John the Baptist and to the Church of the Visitation. Return to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Jerusalem/ Mt. of Olives
On the first day in Jerusalem we enjoy an overview for a better understanding of its geography and some of the key sites surrounding the area. This includes a dramatic view of the Old City from the Mount of Olives, revealing a city with 4000 years of history. From this vantage point see much of what makes Jerusalem such a unique city to the three major religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Walk the Palm Sunday route stopping at Dominus Flevit, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Continue to the Garden of Gethsemane and visit the Church of All Nations. Visit the Cave of Betrayal and the Cave of Assumption of Mary into heaven. Visit the Church of Pater Noster containing the Lord’s Prayer in many languages. End the day at your hotel for dinner and overnight
Day 9: Old City of Jerusalem/ Bethany
Early this morning we retrace the last steps of Jesus as we walk along the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrow) through the markets of the Old City praying the Stations of the Cross. Finally we arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and celebrate Mass. After breakfast at our hotel we return to the Old City of Jerusalem to visit St. Anne’s Church, pass the Ecce Homo Arch, visit the Wailing Wall, and see the nearby Dome of the Rock and the Temple Mount. We exit at Mt Zion and continue to visit the Dormition Abbey and the Upper Room. Continue to Bethany to see the Tomb of Lazarus before returning to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Jerusalem/ Tel Aviv/ Home
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
